AAGIWA Participates in Workshop with Grain Buyers from Mexico |
|
From the desk of AAGIWA Board Member, Dave Reeder, Fremont Grain Inspection Dept, Inc. Freemont, Nebraska. On June 28 AAGIWA sponsored a dinner in honor of 5 representatives from Mexico. Several area elevators representatives also attended. Cipriano Bermejo, Director General, CANACINTRA The representatives from Mexico were here as part of a three day workshop through Nebraska Grain and Feed and the Nebraska Corn Board. June 28th workshop was mainly about Marketing and Railroads. Official Agencies had the complete day on June 29 to address the workshop. The areas we addressed ranged from sampling, grading corn, overview of CuSum, and we ended the day with a panel discussion about the official inspection service. Every chance we had to promote official inspection, we did. Maps of Official Agency Providers, CD of grading procedures, inspection mats with photos all in Spanish were provided. We were fortunate to have Chuck Britton from GIPSA attend and present a slide show of some of the work he is doing in Mexico helping set up inspection labs. Jim Whalen from GIPSA presented the corn grading portion of the workshop. Tom Dahl presented an overview of official inspection and was head of the discussion portion of the program. On June 30th the group toured the UP Herriman Center in Omaha, Debruce Grain of Fremont, and Fremont Grain Inspection before departing for home on July 1st. The dinner was well received and the program was a learning experience for all of us. If you ever get the chance to be part of a workshop or team traveling to meet these customers it will be worth you time. |
